Woman arrested breaking into Prince George’s school

Prince George had his first day at Thomas’ Battersea School last week

A 40-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of trying to break into Prince George’s school.

Police were called to Thomas’ Battersea School after an individual gained access to its premises.

MailOnline understands that the four-year-old prince was in lessons at the time of the break-in.

The suspect was taken to a south London police station where she remains in custody.

Met Police say the woman was arrested at 2.15pm today following the incident on Tuesday.

A spokesperson said: ‘We are working with the school, which is attended by His Royal Highness Prince George, to review its security arrangements after the incident.

‘Police were alerted and officers attended immediately after the issue came to light.

‘Police are part of the protective security arrangements for the Prince and we will continue to work closely with the school, which is responsible for building security on its site.’

Metropolitan Police said it is working with the school to review its security arrangements after the incident.

A spokeswoman for Kensington Palace told MailOnline: ‘We are aware of the incident but cannot comment any further.’

Some 560 classmates aged between four and 13 attend the posh school, and Prince George is one of the youngest in his year.

It is likely he will be joined by his sister Charlotte in two years.

The break-in comes a week after a woman claimed to have walked straight into the exclusive school, even gaining access to its pupil corridors.

Sarah Burnett-Moore, 54, filmed herself inside the £18,000-a-year school after wandering through an iron gate and the main door, which were both left open.

Mrs Burnett-Moore also managed to get as far as the school reception without seeing anybody.

The doctor described the lack of security as ‘astonishing’ and ‘rather worrying’ ahead of George’s enrollment later in the week.
