A 78-year-old woman has been viciously mauled by her three pet dingoes after she tried to stop a fatal attack on a pug in Sydney’s southwest.

Paramedics described the scene as ‘horrific’, revealing the woman’s arm had been savaged during the attack – with her skin completely torn off from her muscle.

She was taken to Liverpool Hospital in a serious condition with bite wounds to her arms, legs and back following the attack at Greendale about 5pm on Monday.

Police said the dingoes had targeted the pug, which was also owned by the woman, before turning on her.

‘On arrival they found an elderly lady who had been attacked by two dogs, sustaining severe injuries to her arms and legs including puncture wounds and a degloving injury to one of her arms,’ responding paramedic Kay Armstrong said.

The three dingoes, which have been caged on the property, are due to be seized by council rangers on Tuesday.

Rangers are expected to speak to the woman before making a decision on whether to put down the three dingoes or not.

The woman’s pet pug died during the attack.
