Woman chases ‘groper’ through New York subway station and smacks him on the back of the head after someone grabbed her bottom on the stairs

  • The suspect assaulted the woman, 26, at Grand Central/42 street subway station 
  • She chased him across the station and hit him repeatedly before he broke away
  • NYPD are appealing for help tracing the man they believe targeted the woman

A brave young woman chased a man through a New York City subway station after feeling somebody grope her while she walking down a staircase.  

The New York Police Department (NYPD) released a video from surveillance cameras inside Grand Central/42 Street subway station showing the 26-year-old woman running after the man they believe groped her on the stairs. 

In the footage, she has a physical confrontation with the man, hitting him over the head and several times on the body.

The footage shows her whacking him over the head and trying to restrain him by holding his shirt

 She then tries to hold onto his shirt but he manages to break off and get away.

The incident happened at around 2pm on Friday, August 31.

The NYPD released the footage Thursday in the hope someone would recognise the suspect, whom they are still trying to trace. 

He is about 20 to 30 years old, between 5ft 6″ and 5ft 8″ tall, about 225lbs and was wearing glasses.

Unfortunately the suspect managed to break away from the victim and left the station. NYPD has put out an appeal for information
