Young woman fighting for life after being struck down by a car in Sydney early this morning – as police launch an investigation into the horrific incident

  • A woman, 21, is in a critical condition after being struck by a car in Granville 
  • Uninjured 53-year-old male driver was taken to hospital for mandatory testing 
  • A crime scene has been established and an investigation is underway 


A young woman is fighting for life after being struck by a car in Sydney’s west during the early hours of the morning.

Emergency services were called to Parramatta Road near Good Street, in Granville, just before 5am on Tuesday to reports a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle.

A 21-year-old woman with serious injuries was treated at the scene by paramedics before she was rushed to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition.

The driver – a 53-year-old man- was uninjured and was taken to hospital for mandatory testing. 

Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

A crime scene has been established, which will be examined by specialist forensic police.
