A Texas woman says that she found a receipt for over $1,000 in hidden recording equipment in her Airbnb home rental.

TikToker Arlen (@coolstrawberryy_) made the shocking discovery upon checking out of a Houston Airbnb this month, pulling an itemized packing slip from underneath a bed.

The slip listed items including audio recorders and hidden cameras disguised as things like a power bank and an iPhone case, which she says could have been anywhere in the house recording her every move.

Arlen’s video exposing the receipt has been watched over half a million times on TikTok.

It lists several items that were shipped to an address in Houston in March, including a Pocket Keychain Audio Recorder, USB Flash Drive Audio Recorder, iPhone Case Hidden Camera, Power Bank Hidden Camera, and 16 Hour Voice Activated Recorder.

In a follow-up video, Arlen explained that the address on the packing slip was a couple of streets over — and she’s not sure whether it means there were hidden cameras in the unit.

‘I’m guessing it just fell out of the box and they didn’t even realize it,’ she said.

‘If you couldn’t tell, the price is over a thousand dollars,’ she added. ‘So it wasn’t just something somebody did for fun or to experiment. Somebody put a lot of money into spying into people.’

Arlen recently moved from Utah to Texas with her boyfriend and sister, and the trio has been staying in monthly Airbnb rentals while they get settled.

This one was part of a fourplex in a ‘sketchy’ neighborhood that set of alarm bells right from the beginning.

First, she said, the rental did not match the pictures on the website.

Next, they found cockroaches, so the owner moved them to a different unit in the building.

But they stayed for a full month because they ‘didn’t have many options.’

It was on their checkout date when they were cleaning up that her boyfriend found the receipt under a bed.

‘What I think happened is that somebody took the equipment [to the Airbnb] andaccidentally dropped [the receipt],’ she said.

Arlen said that it was ‘scary’ but a quick search on the way out turned up none of the recording devices.

She said that she called Airbnb’s non-emergency number, but the representative she spoke to ‘wasn’t helpful at all’ and suggested she raise the issue with the Airbnb host.

Later, she spoke to a different Airbnb representative who promised to contact the safety team.

‘We received a call today from the lady from the safety team who asked a few more questions and said they would update us,’ Arlen said yesterday.
