Woman gives stepmother adoption papers for Christmas, two years after the stepmom divorced her dad

Two years after her divorce, an Illinois woman got a heartwarming gift from her former stepdaughter, whom she helped raise since she was a toddler: adoption papers.

Letitia Renee Fuller, 50, married 19-year-old Jensen Diana Black-Fuller’s dad when Jensen was just two years old, but two years ago the couple split.

This Christmas, Jensen wanted Letitia to know how much she still meant to her, and gave her a box containing adoption papers, leaving the older woman in tears.

Jensen posted video of the emotional moment on Twitter, recording the moment Letitia — whom she calls mom — first laid eyes on the papers.

‘Oh my god,’ she says, happily enveloping Jensen in a hug.

‘When I was 2 my dad married this spectacular women, she was my step mom for 17 years,’ Jensen explained in the tweet.

‘They got divorced 2 years ago and I needed to make sure she knew she still is and always will be my mom. My Christmas gift to her was adoption papers, and it meant the world to both of us.’

Speaking to DailyMail.com, Jensen explained that Letitia, a real estate agent, has always been there for her.

'My mom always does the most for me, and it was really really important for me to show her that I appreciate it all so much and that’s what I see in the video: her recognizing how much I value and appreciate her,' she said

'She raised me,' Jensen said

‘She raised me. She was at every cheer practice, she held my hand through surgeries and doctor appointments, took me out to get my mind off of a boy who broke my heart or mean girls in school.

‘Her name is the one I used to co-sign my first vehicle. She is my mom.

‘[She] tells me every day how much she loves me. She either calls or texts me just to let me know.

‘She always tells me, “Your parents might have had you, but I chose you. And that that’s important.”

‘When her and my dad split up, there was no way I wasn’t going to spend as much time with her as I did with him.’

Come Christmas, she decided to make a big gesture.

‘I chose the gift because it was the first Christmas we weren’t all together as a family. Even though my parents were divorced, we still did Christmas together [before]. I wanted her to know even tho we aren’t all together that she’s still MY family,’ Jensen said.

‘We knew she was gonna be over the moon about it because I knew it meant the world to her.

‘The only reason she kept the last name, Fuller, after the divorce was because she didn’t want me and her to have two [different] last names.
