Finding out your sibling isn’t quite the person you thought they were would understandably be quite a shock.
That’s why when a young woman learned that her brother was a furry, her reaction was so over-the-top that it went viral.
Twitter user @itskonomichi, 23, from Florida, is a member of the furry subculture, which is made up of people interested in anthropomorphic creatures.
Putting it on: A Florida Twitter user (pictured as Konomichi the red panda) filmed the response his sister had when she discovered he was a furry
Pointing it out: She started ‘putting stuff together in her head’ after spotting a decal on his wall featuring his character
People interested in furry fandom often dress up as their own characters and take on corresponding personalities – called ‘fursonas’ – and for @itskonomichi this is a red panda named Konomichi.
The user explained to BuzzFeed how he had kept this particular predilection from his sister, but had recently bought a decal of his fursona and put it on the wall behind the door.
One day, his sister noticed the sticker, and soon ‘started putting stuff together in her head.’ That’s when he got out his camera.
His video shows his young sister pointing at the sticker of the red panda character shouting ‘No! No! No!’
Figuring it out: Viewers can see the sister looking around his room and putting things together
Look of shock: Her surprised face was an instant it with Twitter users
Nope: The end of the video sees the sister squealing and running out of the room after she made the discovery
‘What’s wrong with it?’ he asks her. She responds by threatening to ‘take it down while you’re asleep.’
She flashes a look of shock and judgement when her brother reveals he spent $35 on the sticker.
Then, she notices something up on the shelf and her jaw drops. ‘Furfest?!’ she exclaims, before then recoiling as she looks up at another red panda toy on the shelf.
She starts shaking her head and rushes out of the room squealing, slamming the door behind her, causing her brother to erupt into laughter.
Going big: The video was shared more than 20,000 times and turned her into a meme
Making it out: The video went so viral that friends of the sister saw it without hearing about it
In the community: The artist who created the artwork on the user’s wall turned the sister into her own fursona
‘So my sister found out I was a furry,’ Konomichi wrote online. ‘She did not approve.’
The video has proved a massive hit on Twitter, with more than 20,000 shares in just four days.
The sister’s reaction, specifically her wide-eyed stare, was even turned into a meme by online jokesters.
The tweet even went full circle and reached some of the sister’s friends without them even being told about it. That’s when, he said, ‘we knew it had surpassed even furry Twitter.’
One of the friends wrote that she wanted the reaction ‘framed’, while the artist who had done the red panda decal made the sister her very own fursona.
