Melbourne peak hour traffic has been sent into chaos after a woman was hit by a tram in the heart of city on Tuesday morning.
Paramedics rushed to the scene after the pedestrian was struck on Collins St at around 8am.
The woman may have been using her mobile phone at the time of the incident, according to the Herald Sun.

Traffic was shut down at the intersection with Spencer Street as the pedestrian was put into an ambulance, The Age reported.
Trams between Elizabeth Street and Docklands were brought to a halt following the collision.
The woman was taken to Royal Melbourne Hospital with what is understood to be minor injuries.
‘Collins St trams have now resumed along their normal lines following the earlier disruption,’ Yarra Trams later tweeted.
‘Delays may still occur while we work to restore normal frequency.’
