A woman has died and 10 other people have been injured in a horror three-car crash in Brisbane’s north.

Emergency services rushed to Gympie Arterial Road in Bald Hills, the northernmost suburb Brisbane, at about 9.40pm on Sunday following reports of a serious crash.

Police believe a Hyundai Imax and Honda Odyssey were stationary in the shoulder of the southbound right lane when a Toyota Hiace van crashed into the vehicles from behind.

The woman, who was a passenger in the Honda Odyssey, died at scene.

Ten other people were rushed to hospital for treatment, including three men – two of whom suffered severe head injuries –  who are fighting for their lives in hospital.

The men were taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

The other seven people, including four women and three men, were taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, the Princess Alexandra Hospital and Redcliffe Hospital in a stable condition.

Officers from the Forensic Crash Unit have launched an investigation into the exact circumstances surrounding the crash.

Anyone who witnessed the moments leading up to the crash or has dashcam footage of the incident is being urged to contact police.

Authorities have since reopened Gympie Arterial Road after it was closed for four hours following the collision.
