Woman killed in front of daughter after car rolled backwards as she checked the boot in Castle Hill

A mother has died in front of her daughter after her car rolled backwards as she checked to see if her grocery bags were in the boot.

The mother, 58, had been driving to the shops in Castle Hill, in Sydney’s north-west, when the pair pulled over just short of an intersection at 3.30pm on Sunday.

Tragically, the mother was struck by the car in front of her daughter, 32, and brought to the ground, suffering critical head injuries.

It’s understood the daughter forgot to put the handbrakes of her Mazda CX7 on and was forced to watch her mother die in front of her.

The driver’s mother died at the scene, despite desperate attempts to revive her.

One resident told the Hills Shire Times that a woman standing nearby could be heard yelling and was very distressed. He said she was being comforted by what looked to be her family and paramedics.

Another resident said she witnessed what looked like a passer-by trying to resuscitate the older woman before emergency services arrived.

The Mazda CX7 belonged to the mother, 9 News reported.
