Woman killed in Knightsbridge road traffic accident

An 83-year-old woman has died after she was struck by a truck last night near Harrods.

The victim died at the scene of the incident which involved a white and blue DAF lorry on Brompton Road, Knightsbridge.

Police closed the road between the Victoria and Albert Museum and Harrods for several hours while they examined the scene.

Police are urging witnesses to the crash to come forward and help their investigation

Detectives have appealed for witnesses who were in the area at 5.55pm yesterday to come forward.

Paramedics battled to save the woman’s life but she was declared dead at the scene.

The driver of the lorry remained at the scene following the accident.

The victim has been identified and police have informed her next of kin. A post mortem has been ordered into the cause of the woman’s death.

Detectives from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are examining the incident.

Nobody has been arrested in connection with the collision.
