Woman plagued by Lady Gaga chronic pain hails £9.95 cream

A woman who suffers from the same debilitating chronic pain condition that forced Lady Gaga to cancel major tour dates says a cream that costs less than £10 has had a ‘miracle’ effect.

Julia Sexton, a charity administrative assistant from Gwent, Wales, was first diagnosed with fibromyalgia last year after she began suffering with pins and needles in her legs, which quickly deteriorated into a sensation that felt like her skin was being ‘slowly burned alive’.

Last week, pop superstar Lady Gaga announced that she was cancelling a string of tour dates – including London’s O2 this week – because her long-term condition had left her in agony.

A statement released by Live Nation, revealed the 31-year-old songstress ‘is suffering from severe pain that has materially impacted her ability to perform live’ – the same reason given when she postponed the same dates six months previously.

The star herself put up a statement on Twitter reading: ‘I’m so devastated I don’t know how to describe it.

‘All I know is that if I don’t do this I am not standing by the words or meaning of my music.’

Fibromyalgia is a disorder that causes musculoskeletal pain throughout the body.

For 55-year-old Julia, the cream Celafen, a drug-free natural remedy has transformed how the condition affects her life.

So severe were the symptoms at one point, Julia struggled to leave her home and left feeling sick after taking medicine prescribed for the condition.

The divorced mother-of-two told MailOnline that using the cream had made a huge difference.

She said:  ‘I was fairly amazed to be honest when after about three days of using the Celafen cream twice a day I started to feel an easing of the pain in my legs.’

After using Celafen for three months, she says she’s halved the amount of pain she’s in, something she calls frankly miraculous considering the cream’s ingredients are mostly natural.

Describing her descent into pain, Julia said: ‘At first it felt a bit like pins and needles and then over the period of a few weeks it developed into a nagging joint pain in my ankles and knees.’

She adds:  ‘My legs were also very restless and at night it kept me awake. After about a month I was starting to find I was in quite a lot of pain when I walked and the pain was spreading and getting quite rapidly worse week by week.’

Eventually the pain spread to her joints and spine and she says her entire body started to ache.

‘At one stage it felt like my whole body was literally on fire. All my joints felt hot and aching.

‘It was a kind of pain I have never experienced before, not even in childbirth.’

What is fibromyalgia and what causes it?

Fibromyalgia is a disorder that causes widespread musculoskeletal pain throughout the body.

The chronic pain is typically accompanied by extreme fatigue, mood, memory and sleep problems.

Researchers believe that fibromyalgia might be influenced by the pain receptors in the brain.

These receptors heighten the bodies response to pain and change the way the brain responds to these triggers.

The disorder occurs in five million Americans but only affects about ten percent of males.

Experts don’t know yet what causes fibromyalgia. Some potential triggers could be genetics, infections or physical trauma to the body.

What are the symptoms?

The main symptom people with fibromyalgia experience is severe pain across their entire body.

People have described the pain as a dull ache that can last for three months or longer if more severe.

Those with the disorder also experience extreme fatigue even if they get a lot of sleep in the night.
