Woman reveals exactly how she knows what age people are: ‘Old people are out of style’

Millennial claims she can tell what age you are based on your social media profile – and it’s bad news if you gather your mates for a group snap

  • An influencer is shaming millennials for being ‘out of date’ on Instagram
  • She chastised teapot poses, planned group photos, and curated profiles

A millennial claims she can always tell how old people are just by looking at their Instagram account.

Loren, from the US, is tired of ‘old people’ still subscribing to dated trends when it comes to their social media accounts.

The influencer is often faced with photos of a group in a soccer team position, with half of them squatting in front of the taller members and wonders why people still insist on being ‘out of style’.

‘No one needs to follow my advice, you can do whatever you want and it’s okay if you want to be dated,’ she said.

Loren complained about hand-on-hip poses, overly curated Instagram feeds, and selfies with bulging eyes which need to be put to bed.

‘I really hate when people pose with their hands on their hips,’ she said in a TikTok. ‘I get it, I did cheerleading and dance – this is what we were taught.’

But Loren insisted that there was a time and place for everything – and the era of the teapot pose has passed.

‘It’s flattering – but you’re in the middle of a restaurant, you’re not competing for Miss USA, so relax!’

She also commented on the evolution of the group photo.

‘We’re not rounding everyone up for a group photo anymore – we don’t need to get everyone together, put the tallest in the back and shortest in the front and make everyone put their hands on their hips.’

Loren was not a fan of the of having perfectly curated Instagram feeds where everything was beige

She much preferred Gen Z’s authentic approach to capturing memorable moments.

‘One thing I love about Gen Z is that they’re very candid,’ she said.

‘So if you’re having a barbecue, just get some nice candid shots of everyone at the event having conversations – it doesn’t have to be weird and posed like a soccer team photo.’

Loren was not a fan of the early-to-mid 2010s aesthetic of having perfectly curated Instagram feeds where people used presets and everything was beige.

‘Gen Z is chaotic – they don’t care, they just post what they want, when they want, in whatever colour the picture was originally taken in.’

The influencer’s last gripe was about a specific kind of ‘millennial selfie’ with their eyes wide open.

‘Posting selfies with bug eyes is not it,’ she said. ‘I think millennials assume that we look younger if we bulge our eyes, but it’s not true.’

Thousands agreed with Loren and begged other millennials to stop being ’embarrassing’ and ‘showing their age’.

‘I’ve been saying this for years – the bulge-eyed selfies need to stop.’

‘0.5x photos are the best – everyone needs to catch on.’

Many thought that Loren was giving Gen Z too much credit for being good at Instagram.

‘Gen Z is still calculated in their aesthetic and photos. They intentionally make it look it candid.’

‘It’s called a plan-did – they do it on purpose.’

Some were upset about her attacking the beloved group photo.

‘I think people will regret not taking group photos, they are kind of sweet. I mean – no reason why you can’t do both.’

‘I love group shots for memories – you will always want to look back on them.’
