Woman reveals the creepy moment that turned her off her much older date – seconds after their first kiss
- Young woman reveals creepy first date moment
- She said that man met her to audition her for son
A young woman has revealed the very disturbing moment she had with an older man she met online – after daring to broaden her dating pool.
The woman said she matched with a man 20 years her senior, and although that’s not typically her thing she decided to see where things went.
But the date took a disastrous turn when her would-be suitor confessed he was only dating her to see if she was right for his son.
Writing into the Bad Dates Of Melbourne team the woman admitted ‘something was off’ mid-date.
‘The vibe changed as he kept checking his phone and asking me awkward dating questions. It was almost as if he was reading them,’ she said.

And she soon found out she was likely right.
After ‘misreading’ his cues and wrongly thinking he was ‘going in for a kiss’ the man hit her with his weird news.
‘He tells me that he met with me coz his son was mentioning me (from the same app I met him on). He created his own profile, just to meet me first so he can audition me for his son, who’s apparently really shy,’ she said.
Adding she heard from him a few times after the date and had to make it clear she was not interested in pursuing anything with anyone in the family.
She then blocked him, only to run into him a few months later.
‘We had that awkward ‘good to see you’ followed by an awkward hug. Then I had to come up with an awkward answer when he asked, ‘So why did you block me?’,’ she said.
And people were outraged by the man’s wild move – with some calling it ‘so outrageous it sounds like a movie script’.
‘This is probably the weirdest dating story I’ve ever read,’ one woman said.
‘Who does awkward hug and good to see you after being blocked,’ added another.
‘You blocked him cause he was creepy. Don’t feel awkward about it,’ said a third.

One person said he sounded like a ‘nice dad’ but their comment was quickly dismissed.
‘I wouldn’t date anyone my kids wanted to,’ one wrote.
‘Not if he isn’t upfront with it on his dating profile,’ argued another.
One person appeared confused; ‘Is this dad-fishing or son-fishing?’ they asked.
