General Pants Co. has faced criticism online after it used a naked woman’s body to advertise the opening of a new flagship store in Sydney.
The trendy fashion retailer, which has dozens of stores across Australia, used a naked woman with her private part’s blurred as part of its advertising campaign.
But one female customer took to Facebook in protest of the footpath advert, accusing the retailer of using ‘misogynistic imagery’ to boost its brand.

The footpath advert is part of a larger video campaign, which sees a naked man and woman doing everyday activities in the street
‘I’m genuinely curious: what does a naked, faceless woman’s body have to do with your store and its apparel?’ she wrote.
‘It seems that you’re relying on the objectification of women to sell a product.
‘I have to admit it’s turning me off visiting your stores in the future.’
While a number of people agreed with the woman’s post, others were quick to stand up for the clothing retailer.
‘Sex sells, most basic marketing rule. Get over it,’ one man wrote.
‘People these days get so offended by the dumbest sh**,’ agreed another.

General Pants declined to comment to Daily Mail Australia, but said the footpath decal was linked to a broader video campaign for the store on George Street.
The original video shows a naked man and woman running through the streets, skateboarding and playing guitar before arriving at the flagship store.
The naked pair, who both have their private parts blurred, then cause chaos within the store as they throw clothes around, with the slogan: ‘OMG… it’s so damn big!’
The new George Street store features a pop-up tattoo parlour, record store, chill-out zone with comfy couches and complimentary frozen coke for thirsty shoppers.
