A woman suffering from serious hair loss caused by years of wearing hair extensions has shaved off all her hair off on camera.
Vanessa Martinez, 21, from Arizona, who goes by the moniker Simply Nessa on social media, took to her YouTube channel to share how years of hair extensions have left her with bald patches.
‘As you guys can see I have extensions in, this is not my own hair,’ Vanessa told the camera at the start of the vlog.

Vanessa took to her YouTube channel to share how years of hair extensions have left her with bald patches
‘No matter what extensions you put in your hair, you’re going to go slightly bald from it, just from the weight, she added.
‘But what I noticed is, if you go through my head, you will find constant random spots, and I used to not have that.’
Explaining that the extensions would grab all the hair around where they had been placed, her hair started to break off.
‘I’m just making myself balder and balder so why don’t I just cut all my hair off and start over,’ she said.
And Vanessa emphasized this point by telling her fans she’s ‘not going through anything’ to cause the bald patched.
‘I’m not stressed. I’m not going through anything because I am stressed. My extensions left me bald and it’s my fault because I got them,’ she told the camera.
Calling upon her friend Ruthie to help her with the process, the pair laughed and joked as Ruthie told Vanessa she wanted to give her different hair styles first.
‘I wanted to cut it crazy,’ Ruthie said. ‘Like give you a mohawk’.
Vanessa then started to cut inches off the ends of her hair with kitchen scissors, but as her hair was so thick they had to try and use the razor to cut her ponytail off.
‘I feel like I have to pee because I’m so nervous,’ Vanessa admitted.
When her hair was cut into a bob, Vanessa shared that she was tempted to cut her hair into this length but persevered with her decision to remove it all.
‘You guys hair grows back,’ she added.

She then cut bangs into her hair before starting to chop the rest of her length into a pixie cut.
Exposing her bald patches she again told the camera that they were the reason she decided to cut her hair off.
Then using the razor, Vanessa started to give herself a buzz cut, shaving the front and sides of her hair off completely.
It was at this point that she started to vocalize her concerns about how people would perceive her shaved head, sharing that her dad and brother were going to ‘roast’ her over her new look.
‘All his friends that used to say that I was cute are going to say your sister ain’t cute anymore,’ she joked, referring to her brother’s friends.
Even though Ruthie suggested leaving a ‘rat tail’ at the nape of her neck, Vanessa shaved the back of her head, and also asked ‘will you still love me Jarl?’, referring to her boyfriend Jarl Andersen, a Norwegian vlogger she met via YouTube.
Vanessa finished off the look by covering her head with shaving foam and giving her head a wet shave with a razor.
She also asked: ‘Does this mean I have to out foundation on my entire head now?’
However at the end of the video, Vanessa seemed more confident and after trying out a wig, revealed she didn’t like the feeling.
She ended the video by saying she felt very ‘liberated’ without her hair.
