Disturbing footage has emerged that shows a ‘spice zombie’ writhing and pleading for help in a local park.

The distressed woman was found slumped in Midsummer Common by a man cycling across the Cambridge park.

The man, who is in his 20s, said he was pedalling home with his sister at around 2am after attending a family gathering.

‘She was just sitting on the path and screaming “mummy mummy, help help”.

The woman was filmed writhing on the ground and mouthing gibberish. She seemed unfazed by the camera's presence

‘I cycled past her and my sister did, then I decided to go back and get some pictures of her on my phone. I thought no-one would believe me if I told them what I’d seen.

‘She just wasn’t even aware of me filming, even when the light came on.

‘If she’d got up and started walking towards me I would had ran. It was like something out of a horror film.

‘I think actually she’s well known in the Cambridge area and people have seen her before.

‘I think more has got to be done to help people on this.’

A Home Office spokesman said previously: ‘We recognise how dangerous synthetic cannabinoids, such as those found in spice and black mamba, can be and the devastating impact that they can have on communities, families and the individuals taking them.

‘That is why we acted to ban these so-called legal highs under the Misuse of Drugs Act and give the police the powers they need to take action, including making possession illegal and delivering longer sentences for dealers.

‘Our new drug strategy has placed recovery and protecting the vulnerable at its heart – supporting people though treatment while tackling the supply of illegal drugs.’
