A Sydney woman has been so badly bashed police are having trouble determining her age.
She was attacked in a unit in Campsie about 5am on Thursday by a man wielding a knife and hammer, NSW police said.
A man who was in a relationship with the woman is now in police custody.

Police said her head injuries were so severe the woman is unrecognisable.
