- Do you really need to use a plethora of products every single morning?
- We challenge one woman to see if she could achieve the same with just five
- She pitted both looks against each other to see which fared best
Whether you laboriously contour your face every morning or sweep a dash of powder over your skin before you rush out of the door, every woman has a different method for beautifying themselves.
But do you really need to splurge on a plethora of expensive products and spend your precious time applying them every day? Or can you achieve the exact same look with five hardworking, multi-tasking products?
We challenged one woman to find out – by doing her morning makeup with a staggering 20 products and then using just five multi-tasking essentials.
Lucy Turner, 27, from London, delved into her cosmetics bag and selected the 20 products she would usually apply in order to achieve a pared back but glossy look.
Do you REALLY need to use 20 products on your face every morning or will five suffice? We challenged one woman to find out – by doing her morning makeup with a full bag of contouring and strobing creams, pictured, and then trying just five multi-tasking products
She began with a primer and slathered on CC creams and strobe creams, which are designed to prep the skin for makeup, while simultaneously adding a luminescent effect.
She also used a variety of concealers for different sections of the face, as well as colour correcting sticks, which are designed to tone down unwelcome pigmentation in different areas of the face.
Following in the footsteps of the likes of the Kardashians, who have put contouring and highlighting on the map, Lucy used highlighter and glow sticks to give her skin a flawless finish. She also used several products on her eyes and lips – including brow gel and lip liner.
In this photo, Lucy is wearing just five cosmetics, including multitasking CC creams and lip glosses that doubled up as cheek tint
For her five-product face, she used multi-tasking products such as a CC cream, which is designed to act as a primer, concealer and foundation all-in-one.
She also stuck to a simple powder to dust over her face and used a lip gloss to give both her lips and cheeks colour.
She also used a brow pencil to define her brows and as an eyeliner.
‘It was obviously much quicker and easier with just five products and meant I had less to carry around for touch-ups. I didn’t realise how many products can be used as multi-taskers, such as using a lip gloss on the cheeks as well.
‘I do enjoy using multiple products for a special occasion but it’s good to know it’s easy to down-size.’
