Woman’s hotel nightmare after her room is invaded by ‘2,000 moths’ and a ‘killer snake’ when she opened her door for ‘a split second’

A woman has experienced a hotel nightmare after her room was invaded by ‘2,000 moths’ and a ‘killer snake.’

Backpacker Jemma Sayer captured the chaos in her room in Thailand in a TikTok video, with overlaid text reading: ‘When you check into your hotel and open the door at night, and a killer snake launches at you, and over 2,000 moths fly in.’

The 18-year-olds had already been through Cambodia and Vietnam when they were faced with the scene from a ‘horror film’ on their first week in Pai, Thailand.

In her clip, which garnered more than 3.9 million views, a flood of moths are seen latched onto the bed and under the bug net, as a group of them circled around the room’s ceiling light.

Most followers were freaked out by the fear-inducing video, with one person commenting: ‘I’d check out of life.’

The video shows Jemma’s room with clothing items scattered throughout, while her friend stands alongside her assessing what to do next.

A hotel worker is also seen sporting a blue head lamp while standing right next to the moths’ central location on the bed.

The bug net over the bed had many holes in it from what appears to be from the moths eating through it.

She captioned the video: ‘The man with the bat just says it all.’

Jemma provided further context in the comments.

She wrote: ‘Just to clarify, we didn’t just leave the door wide open. We opened the door for a split second to go out, and this jungle of moths, and a snake entered our room.’

The content creator added that the ‘killer snake’ in question was a cobra snake.

While the best friends did consider getting a flight home to the UK after the debacle, the hotel upgraded their room and they have now continued their travels to Bangkok.

Jemma shared: ‘We got upgraded to a different room, but yeah, safe to say we didn’t get much sleep that night.’

In an interview with Kennedy News, the backpacker further elaborated on the chaotic scenes, explaining: ‘We were staying in this bungalow in the jungle.

‘There was a little gap in the door and there was a few months flying in. We decided to wrap a towel around the door to try and stop all the moths from coming in.

‘As we opened the door, this cobra snake was dangling from the top of the door with its mouth open.

‘We thought we were going to die, we were petrified. I’ve never ever been so scared in my entire life.

‘It launched towards both of us, it literally launched towards my friend’s head. This is when the moths all came in as well, they just swarmed over us.’
