Women let their partners dress them in social experiment

1.) They have the confidence you might not

‘Almost 40 percent of women surveyed wouldn’t let their partner dress them fearing their choice would be “too daring”, “too young” or “too fashionable”‘, says Caroline Barstow. ‘These are likely to be our hang-ups preventing us from trying new and exciting styles.’

2.) They will be honest with you

‘The person that loves you the most (and is seen with you in public) isn’t going to stitch you up or make you look silly. Have faith in them, after all 80 per cent of us said we care what our partner thinks of our dress sense.’

3.) They see other people checking you out

‘The person who walks by your side down the street or is sat across the table from you in a restaurant is better placed to see people giving you the eye and know what gets you noticed.’

4.) They are more likely to take risks

‘Over 60 per cent of women said they dismiss clothes for not being, in their own words, ‘me’. Although our gut instinct is often right, clothes can look entirely different off the hanger so, now and again, a risk may well pay off.’

5.) They won’t listen to your friends

‘They’re less likely to be influenced by your friends’ or family’s opinion (especially if they are the kind of people that compliment you whatever you wear).’

6.) They will want to show off your best assets

‘Whether it’s your legs, waist, boobs or bum, if they love it, they’re going to want to celebrate it.’

7.) They don’t have your hang-ups

‘We can be guilty of obsessing over the parts of our body we don’t like and picking styles to deliberately cover or conceal them. Whereas your other-half probably wouldn’t give them a second thought (they might even love them) therefore are less likely to be narrow-minded in their choices.’

8.) They are statistically likely to do a good job

‘After asking over 4,000 women if they thought their partner could dress them better than they can dress themselves, nearly three quarters said ‘no’, however out of the 54 per cent of women who had at least once let their partner dress them, 84 per cent said they liked it.’

9.) They know you better than you

‘Your husband, boyfriend or partner knows both your body and your personality intimately, making them the best placed person to express your true style.’

10.) They might surprise you

‘What’s to lose? Your partner could be a secret Gok Wan and make shopping a complete breeze in the future – you’ll never know until you try.’
