From clipping nails at the table to a pigeon dropping dead beside them: Women share the weirdest dates they’ve ever been on

  • Tweet goes viral after one woman shares her bad date at a movie theatre
  • Other women share their bad date experiences, including getting hit by pigeon
  • Australian website Mamamia elaborate on dating tips through podcast

A single tweet has encouraged Australian women to share the most awkward and downright weird dates they’ve ever been on.

The original post from January 18, which has attracted 500,000 likes, asked people to talk about ‘bad dates’ by offering up one the poster has been on herself.

‘I’ll go first. We were going to see a movie and didn’t buy tickets in advance and couldn’t get two tickets next to each other so we ended up sitting on opposite sides of the theater and then the movie ended and we were like cool ok bye,’ she said.

In a call-out from Mamamia hundreds of women shared their own experiences, from failing to find their partner at the bar to being attacked by a rogue bird.

One woman told the publication she had an interesting hide-and-seek date at a dimly lit bar.

‘I went on a date once and the guy told me to meet him at a really dark bar but instead of telling me where he was he insisted I “find him as he was the most attractive person there,”‘ she said.

‘I did two laps of the bar and couldn’t see him. Then I had to call him to see where he was. In hindsight, I should have just left.’

'I was on a date with a guy at a lovely waterfront bar. He proceeds to get nail clippers out of his pocket and starts clipping away at his filthy nails. One flew off into my cocktail,' a woman said (stock image)

When it comes to dating first impressions are very important, and sometimes you know instantly if your initial meet-up is going to lead to a long term relationship.

If the person you’ve met begins to act strangely, you can assume there is not going to be a second date.

‘I was on a date with a guy at a lovely waterfront bar. He proceeds to get nail clippers out of his pocket and starts clipping away at his filthy nails. One flew off into my cocktail,’ one woman said.

Another lady went to a social event with her date when he started making out with one of her ‘friends’ in front of her.

There were also instances where something odd happened that was neither person’s fault.

‘I once went on a date in a beer garden where a pigeon flew into me and dropped down dead on the table. Good ice breaker, to be honest,’ a woman said.
