Woodville West: Dramatic moment hooning car crashes and burst into flames before drunk driver flees from scene

Dramatic footage has captured the moment a driver performed high-speed burnouts before his car later crashed into a tree and burst into flames.

Police were called to a street in the suburb of Woodville West, in Adelaide’s north west, at 1.45am on Monday after reports that a Holden sedan was on fire in the middle of the road.

The car had smashed into a tree before spinning out into the street where it had leaked a trail of petrol that soon caught alight.

CCTV footage captured the driver hooning through the deserted streets before the collision.

Witnesses, who reported hearing a ‘blast’, told police they saw the driver flee the scene as the vehicle went up in flames.

CCTV from nearby homes shows a figure walking away down the street as the fireball erupts.

Officers traced the registered owner to an address just a few streets away where he allegedly returned a breath test nearly twice the legal limit.
