Woolworths has sent shoppers into meltdown by bringing back an iconic childhood treat with a clever twist.

Slush Puppies were a much-loved icy drink that first appeared in milk bars and corner stores four decades ago. They swiftly became a staple in school canteens and fish and chip shops.

But now the Australian supermarket giant is selling pouches of the nostalgic treat, sparking a wave of excitement among adults across the country.

The 250mL pouches, which cost $3 each, are available in three flavours: grape, strawberry, and the most iconic choice, blue raspberry.

TikToker star Tylah Hill was one of the first to share the news, sending social media into a frenzy with a video uploaded on Wednesday.

‘Does anyone remember Slush Puppies as a kid?’ he asked.

‘They just released them as pouches at Woolies, three flavours to choose from. I haven’t had them in years!’

The revelation, which has racked up more than 23,000 views since it was shared online, sparked a wave of delighted responses.

‘I remember the milk bar across the road from my high school had them. Every lunch, the line was out the door! Everyone got one!’ one person wrote.

A second added: ‘Oh mate, they were the shiz.’

One woman said her son had been such a diehard fan he got a Slush Puppy tattooed on his arm.

But others were less impressed, with one man saying he had been let down after racing to try the new product.

‘No, the pouches are foul, I was so disappointed because Slush Puppies are so good,’ he wrote.
