Woolworths CONFIRM hotly-anticipated Disney collectables range

After the hugely successful Coles Little Shop campaign, it can now be confirmed that Woolworths are launching their very own collectables range.

The ‘Disney Words by Woolworths’ is a range of Disney-themed collectable Scrabble tiles.

It will be available from Wednesday 27 February, when Woolies customers will be able to collect a tile with every $30 they spend in store or online.

Excitement around the possibility of a collectables range had already reached fever pitch on Facebook, where one excited mother took to Facebook to share a snap of a cardboard cutout at the front of her local Woolworths store.

‘Members let the fun begin,’ the mother wrote in a Facebook group dedicated to the collectable trends.

But now it is a dead set certainty that the collectables range will arrive in store, what can shoppers expect?

‘Disney Words by Woolworths’ will feature 36 tiles and characters from some of Disney’s most loved films including Aladdin, Frozen, Toy Story and Moana.

On one side there will be an image of that Disney character, while on the other side there will be a letter or symbol, that can be used for multiple word play games.

Woolworths customers will also stand a chance to instantly win one of 10 VIP trips for four people to Disneyland Resort in California if they find the exclusive ‘Disneyland’ castle tile inside their pack.

Woolworths Supermarkets Managing Director, Claire Peters said: ‘We set out to create a program with a difference, that will not only capture the imagination of kids and families, but can also make learning and literacy fun.

‘With this in mind, we are really excited to be able to work with Disney again to launch our very own “Disney Words by Woolworths”.

‘It combines the magic of collecting Disney’s iconic character tiles like Mickey Mouse, Cinderella and Buzz Lightyear while also using the letters on the back of them to create a whole bunch of fun word games.

‘Whether you’ve grown up with Disney, or your kids are enchanted by it, we know that Australian families both young and old will be able to enjoy this program.’

Guesses as to what the collectables range could be had already begun circulating on Facebook, where many speculated that it would definitely be Disney-related.

‘This looks better than the Coles one and it’s not even out yet and we don’t know what it is,’ one person joked.

‘Love how Coles and Woolies are fully battling it out,’ wrote another.

Shoppers can receive one Stikeez for every $30 spent at Coles stores.

Coles has previously said its ‘highly successful’ Little Shop campaign, which consisted of 30 mini plastic grocery items such as Weet-Bix and Vegemite, helped lift its first quarter sales by 5.8 per cent to $7.6 billion.

Its chief rival Woolworths has partly blamed its poor sales at the start of its first quarter on a ‘competitor continuity program’.

‘Disney Words by Woolworths’ will be available in store and online from Wednesday 27 February.
