Woolworths shopper finds live maggots inside loaf of bread

A Woolworths shopper has been left furious after finding maggots crawling through a loaf of multigrain bread.

Matto Carrol, from Cheltenham, Victoria, complained to the supermarket giant in an angry Facebook rant on Monday, claiming to have already eaten a larvae-infested slice before making the gross discovery.

He accompanied his complaint with video ‘evidence’ of a maggot wriggling around on a piece of the ‘hi-fibre’ bread, believed to be from the Woolworths brand loaf.

‘Warning maggots in Woolworths bread!!!!!!,’ he wrote.

‘Bought this loaf of bread on Saturday the 16th of December 2017 with my fiancé have already eaten a few slices from it, have just gone to make a sandwich today (18th of December 2017)…

‘And have found what looks like a maggot crawling on the piece of the bread! This is disgusting! I will be taking this matter further!.’

Clearly upset by his nasty encounter, Mr Carroll was understood to have also written a strongly worded private message to Woolworths, demanding the company hand over $9million for damages.

Woolworths responded to their frustrated customer in the video’s comment section, urging him to refer to his inbox for answers.

‘Hey Matto, we’re concerned to see this! While sadly we might not be able to offer $9mil for the stress caused (esp. to your dog), we’d definitely like to investigate and have replied to your private message.

‘We’d appreciate if you could follow us up there.’

Another added their two cents, saying the encounter wasn’t really that surprising.

‘Possibly when the bread packet was opened a fly carrying maggots has landed in there. Its more common than you would think,’ they wrote.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Woolworths for comment.
