Woolworths shopper horrified by disgusting discovery in her click-and-collect order

A Woolworths shopper has expressed her shock over the state of a product she ordered via click-and-collect, and urged the supermarket giant to do better with ‘direct to boot’ orders.

The Queensland mother purchased a packet of Mountain Bread Rice wraps last month from her local store in Redlynch, a suburb of Cairns.

She bought the wraps using Woolworths’ direct to boot service, in which shoppers order online and supermarket staff pack the bags and then take them out to the shopper’s car.

When she got home and unpacked the bags, she was alarmed to see the packet of wraps emitted a ‘puff of mould’ when she put them on her kitchen counter.

‘I don’t want to have a go at the staff in store, but something of that quality shouldn’t be on the shelf,’ the shopper told Yahoo News Australia.

She threw the wraps away without checking the use-by date but said the wraps were months old and ‘saturated in mould’.

The shopper said she was concerned about the impact on her chronic health condition from having the mould in her home, let alone eating it.

The shopper contacted Woolworths and received a credit, but said she was concerned that a product that bad could still be on the shelves.

‘We take a risk when we get someone else to do our shopping, it is a luxury. But they should be doing better by their customers. We’re paying a fortune for groceries. Their (former) CEO earns $8 million a year, but we can’t even get decent bread,’ she said.

She said she rarely uses the click-and-collect service as she prefers to choose her own fresh produce.

The shopper wants the supermarket giant needs tougher quality controls, especially with fruit and vegetables.

A Woolworths spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia: ‘We have a dedicated team of personal shoppers who work hard to handpick thousands of online orders to the highest standard every day.

‘While our teams work hard to provide a great experience every time, we don’t always get it right.

‘We investigated the matter with the store team and the issue has since been resolved with the customer.’
