Woolworths has issued an urgent recall of its popular Jamie Oliver Green Pesto over fears it may contain peanuts

Woolworths has urgently recalled its popular Jamie Oliver Green Pesto over fears it may contain peanuts.

The supermarket warned its customers not to consume the product as it potentially contains the allergen despite it being undeclared on the packaging.

Woolworths urged those who had bought the pesto sauce to return it to their nearest store for a full refund.

‘Consumers who have a peanut allergy or intolerance should not consume this product,’ the chain said in a statement.

‘Any consumers concerned about their health should seek medical advice.

‘The recall applies to all batches.’

The announcement published by Product Safety Australia on Wednesday is the latest in a string of pesto sauce recalls due to fears they may contain peanuts.

Earlier this month, the supermarket issued a recall of its Woolworths Italian Style Basil Pesto due to possible presence of the allergen.

Bottles of Providore’s Italian Tomatoes and Grana Padano Cheese pesto varieties were also recalled on February 3 over the same fears.

In January, Aldi announced a recall of Remano Basil Pesto and Remano Sun-dried Tomato Pesto sauce jars.
