A Woolworths worker has revealed what he believes the true purpose of a little-known trolley hook is for – but many say they have been using it for an entirely different reason.

Sydney employee Liam Kirley revealed that the easy-to-miss hook under the handlebar at the back of the trolley is designed to store your hat or Woolworths reusable bags.

However, many shoppers disagreed and admitted they have been using the hook to store roast chooks.

‘Here is a Woolworths trolley hack,’ Liam said when he shared the TikTok.

‘Every Woolworths trolley has a curtesy hook so you can hang your hat or your reusable bags.’

He said the hook is handy as you don’t have to carry the bags around the store and they are still easily accessible.

Many shoppers believed the hook was specifically designed to hold a roast chicken so it is away from cold products.

‘Definitely for roast chook,’ one woman said.

‘It’s good for your roast chicken so it doesn’t spoil other food,’ another agreed.

Other people said they use the hook for handbags, olive oil and even pocket items such as keychains.

‘I use it for my bags and my roast chicken,’ one woman said.

‘My mum hangs her purse off it,’ another wrote.

‘If you’re like me and forget your bags, you can set a reminder on the Woolworths app to tell you when you arrive at store to get your bags,’ he said.

For the third hack, the worker demonstrated a helpful way to store the bags to ensure they last longer.

He lifted the bottom of the bag upwards then lay it flat on top of itself to be neatly stored away.

‘If you fold your reusable bags like this, you’ll get a longer life out of them,’ he said.

The bags themselves cost 99c each and Woolworths will replace the bags if they are damaged.
