‘Worst’ parcel firm Evri has best Christmas ever

Evri’s boss has brushed off criticism of its customer service record following its best Christmas.

Martijn de Lange said the parcel delivery group delivered a record 173m parcels during the nine weeks to December 28, up 12 per cent on last year, despite adverse weather such as Storm Darragh.

Evri linked its performance to the £35m it invested in recruiting 9,000 extra couriers and other workers, as well as in new delivery vehicles.

Black Friday sales were responsible for the busiest single week in the courier’s 50-year history, with Evri delivering a record 24.7m parcels during the first week of December to bargain hunters.

Boost: Evri linked its performance to the £35m it invested in recruiting 9,000 extra couriers and other workers, as well as in new delivery vehicles

In October, regulator Ofcom named Evri as the worst parcel delivery business for customer satisfaction for the second year running.

But de Lange, speaking on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme, said ‘there are millions of reviews on Trustpilot that say we’re great’.
