Derek Jeter made his on-air broadcast debut for Fox Sports’ baseball coverage as the network aired the first game in the London Series.
Jeter, the five-time World Series champion and former Miami Marlins part-owner, was present at the desk prior to the first pitch.
Sat alongside former Red Sox rival David Ortiz and with frenemy Alex Rodriguez joining him, Jeter was welcomed by host Kevin Burkhardt to the team.
When asked where this ranked in his all-time list of moments in his life, Jeter brought out the jokes.
‘This is right there at the bottom, guys. Doesn’t get any worse than this,’ the former Yankees captain said – bringing laughs out of his co-workers.

But the Hall-of-Fame shortstop took a serious tone, saying, ‘In all honesty, I’ve enjoyed it, man.
‘Getting to know Papi [Ortiz]… I’ve known him obviously playing against him,’ Jeter said. ‘But getting to know him the last few days here in London, which I’m sure we’re going to see a little bit later, it’s been awesome. So I couldn’t wait for this to start.’
Ortiz – commonly referred to by his nickname ‘Big Papi’ – then presented Jeter with a plastic crown, saying, ‘You know what? You the captain, but I got a gift for you. Today, you the king.’
Jeter’s deal to join Fox was announced back in February – with the 14-time All-Star not particularly that busy.
Back in February of 2022, Jeter announced he would sell his shares in the Marlins and would step down as the team’s CEO. Jeter initially purchased a four-percent stake in the franchise back in 2017.
This move also reunites Jeter with Rodriguez – his former Yankees teammate and friend.
While the two got along well in their early days of playing in the major leagues, the pair eventually had a falling out – leaving them with a complicated relationship.
