Yankees manager Aaron Boone is ejected for the second time in 4 games and fourth time this season

Livid Yankees manager Aaron Boone is ejected AGAIN – the second time in four games and fourth time this season – after arguing with umpires over borderline calls

Livid Yankees manager Aaron Boone was ejected for the fourth time this season and second time in New York’s last four games when he argued with Edwin Moscoso over the umpire’s strike zone in Thursday night’s 3-1 loss against the Baltimore Orioles.

Boone held up four fingers while arguing with Moscoso, signaling that he thought the umpire missed four calls.

Boone also may have gotten spit on Moscoco while arguing, then after the ejection argued with first base umpire Chris Guccione.

Boone was ejected moments after Gunnar Henderson lined out to first to end the top of the third. Henderson worked a six-pitch walk in the first in which Moscoso called balls on three borderline pitches. Henderson laid off two pitches on the outside corner called balls in his third-inning at-bat.

Boone was ejected against Cleveland on April 12, against Toronto on May 15 and against Cincinnati on Sunday. He’s been ejected 50 time in five-plus seasons as Yankees manager.

On Thursday night, he had to be retrained by Guccione and bench coach Carlos Mendoza.

Boone’s ejection against the Reds on May 22 came at the bottom of the first inning after a replay review overturned a call in Cincinnati’s favor.

With the Reds’ Jonathan India on first base, Cincinnati’s Spencer Steer flared a ball down the first base line. Yankees right fielder Jake Bauers ran over to try and make a play on the ball, only for it to pop out of his glove.

His bobbling attempts to corral the ball were in vain as it dropped to his side.

First base umpire Nestor Ceja threw both his hands up to indicate it was a foul ball, but India continued to run home – eventually reaching it before going back to first base.

But upon further review, Bauers touched the ball in fair territory, only bobbling it out and foul. Reds manager David Bell challenged the call and overturned it, meaning the run scored.

Boone exited the dugout furious and began arguing his case with second base umpire Brian O’Nora – saying that Ceja’s decision to call it foul meant the Yankees thought the play was dead and therefore, they didn’t make a play to the plate.

But O’Nora seemingly had enough of Boone, ejecting him despite the game only being in its early stages.
