Joel McHale has joined the upcoming third season of Yellowjackets.
The Community star, 52, will appear in a guest role and his character’s arc is being kept under wraps for now.
All of season three’s storyline is top secret at the moment, but Christina Ricci revealed a hint to The Hollywood Reporter in June.
The Wednesday star said, ‘This season is going to be even more shocking and surprising than the previous seasons.’
She added, ‘It’s definitely going to be brutal. But they also put a lot of comedy into it. So I think it’s just going to be… extremely Yellowjackets-y.’

Season three of the Paramount+ with Showtime show is currently in production and while no premiere date has been set, it is expected to drop in 2025.
Alongside Ricci, show stars Melanie Lynskey, Samantha Hanratty, Tawny Cypress, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Sophie Thatcher, Liv Hewson, Steven Krueger, Warren Kole, and Kevin Alves.
Ricci didn’t share any more information about the upcoming season because she doesn’t have anything else to share yet.
‘We aren’t always privy to that stuff,’ she said. ‘We tend to find out just a bit later than I think people would imagine.
‘But it’s the nature of TV, and it’s just the nature of this show in particular,’ she explained.
‘They don’t tell us anything about storylines, and I don’t even want to ask, because it puts them in a weird position. So I never ask what’s coming,’ she said.
The popular series follows a high school soccer team that gets in a plane crash in the Canadian wilderness while flying to an away game in 1996.
The survivors then have to learn how to survive in the wilderness, with episodes jumping to 2021 to show the adult version of the characters who are still coping from the trauma.

The series timeline jumps between the past 1996 and 2021) with two actors playing the younger and older versions of the same leading characters.
Season two ended with major cliffhangers in both the 1996 and 2021 timelines.
McHale is best known for hosting the television series The Soup (2004-2015) and for portraying Jeff Winger in NBC’s hit sitcom Community (2009-2015) that ran for six seasons.
He also made waves in the films Spy Kids: All the Time in the World (2011) and Ted (2012).
