Yellowstone’s surprising connection to Australia… and it’s not actress Jacki Weaver

Yellowstone took the world by storm when the neo-western series debuted in 2018 with beloved rancher John Dutton and his daughter Beth.

And now, the show’s surprising connection to Australia has been revealed.

The series stars Finn Little, who plays the role of Rip’s son Carter, and he is actually Australian.

Finn has become a respected actor after landing a role on season four of the show.

He is also known for playing Gilles in the series Tidelands alongside Elsa Pataky.

Meanwhile, the music for Yellowstone spinoffs 1883 and 1923 was composed by Breton Vivian, an English-Australian composer.

His work on the series earned him an Emmy-Award nomination, BMI Awards and a Hollywood Music in Media Award.

Breton has also worked on Justin Baldoni’s debut feature film Five Feet Apart.

Australian actress Jacki Weaver has also had a recurring role as Caroline Warner in Yellowstone since 2021.

The series stars Kevin Costner, Kelly Reilly, Cole Hauser and Luke Grimes.

Season 5B was originally set to be the last installment of Yellowstone in the wake of Costner’s exit as the lead character John Dutton.

Costner revealed on Instagram in June he would not be returning to the show for an appearance in season 5B, which premieres on November 11.

‘Hi everyone. I just want to reach out and let you know that after this long year and a half of working on Horizon and doing all the things that’s required, and thinking about Yellowstone—that beloved series that I love, that I know you love—I just realised that I’m not going to be able to continue Season 5B or into the future,’ Costner announced somberly while gazing into the camera.

Previous reports indicated Costner was likely done for good with the series after conflicts between himself and producers over pay, his schedule and his availability to film his multi-part Western epic Horizon: An American Saga.

Despite the initial announcement that season 5B would be the end of Yellowstone, emerging reports have since said a season six which focuses on Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser’s (Rip) characters could be in the works.

Entertainment industry newsletter Puck reported the last half of the fifth season will not close out Sheridan’s epic Western series, as previously believed.

The newsletter said Hauser and Reilly were in the final process of signing new contracts with the Paramount Network, either for a sixth season or a spinoff series, according to TVLine.

In March, Reilly told Radio Times there were ongoing ‘discussions’, but added: ‘Don’t believe everything you read. It’s just nonsense.’

Yellowstone’s final instalment, season five, premieres November 11 only on Stan.
