You can now buy an exercise bike with a built in office desk so you can check off your fitness goals while you work from home.

The office bike is just $249 from online retailer Dick Smith and has been described as ‘the best invention ever’ as Australia sits on the verge of extended lock downs following the Delta variant spreading through the community.

The built-in desk can be used while standing or sitting and is adjustable to make it as ergonomic as possible.

Customers who bought the bike claimed it was easy to put together and rated the ‘work from home staple’ as ‘genius’.

‘I pedal and read the news feed at the same time, looks good and simple to get your exercise,’ one happy user said.

‘Seat is not the most comfortable when sitting for a while whilst working although you do have option of standing in front and continue working. I do enjoy it,’ said another.

‘It runs so quietly I can hardly hear it and very smoothly so you can easily tune out and forget you’re getting your daily exercise in. Effortless workout and in fact I just finished a half an hour and I actually feel rested,’ bragged another.

But there were some complaints that the bike, which has six resistance settings, was not comfortable.

‘Only downside for the bike itself is the seat is super uncomfortable. It’s really wide at the front digging into your thigh bones it’s hard to keep legs facing forward.’ one woman complained.

Others struggled to attach the table to the bike.

‘The top table has not way to attach to the actual bike. There is no bolt or anything to screw it onto. Its super disappointing,’ one woman said.

But another person explained what the problem could be in their post.

‘Easy to assemble but the table connecting plastic insert inside the metal part had moved beyond the visible window and I had to unscrew it to find it without knowing it was there.’

With gyms closed and people urged to work from home if they can there has been a sudden spike in exercise and office equipment.

Sydney is set to continue to be locked down until July nine while other states have introduced shorted ‘circuit breaker’ lockdowns.

The exercise bike can be stored easily or placed in the boot of most cars to be taken to and from work, according to Fortis, the manufacturer.
