A nine-year-old boy has died after he was accidentally shot.

Emergency services were called to a property near Goulburn in regional NSW on Sunday morning, following reports of a shooting. 

Paramedics and police officers arrived at Fernleigh Close, Windellama at 11.20am.

The Hume Police District officers were told a young boy had been shot after a firearm accidentally discharged.

He was treated for serious neck injuries by paramedics and died at the scene.

Police officers have not arrested anyone in connection with the shooting. 

An investigation has been launched into the matter.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner. 

According to the 2021 census, Windellama has a population of 413 people, with about 100 families and 316 private dwellings.
