Young man dies after a fight outside a pub in Robina on the Gold Coast

A young man has tragically died following a fight outside a pub on the Gold Coast.

Queensland Police attended RQ’s Tavern in Robina shortly after 10pm on Thursday following reports of an altercation.

A Nerang man, 26 was found at the scene suffering from critical injuries

He was rushed to hospital where he died a short time later. 

A second man involved in the altercation allegedly fled the scene before police arrived.

Inquiries led police to a home in nearby Mermaid Beach where they arrested a man, also 26, four hours later.

He remains in custody assisting police with their inquiries. No charges have yet been laid.

It’s currently not known whether the two men were known to each other. 

A homicide investigation is now underway.

Detective want to speak to any witnesses and anyone with relevant footage regarding the incident.
