Fodera told Daily Mail Australia she deeply regretted her actions and had been going through a dark period in her life.

‘We all make mistakes, we are only human. But I will be sure enough to not make the same mistake again,’ she said.

‘I have been going through a tough time at the moment, recently leaving a domestic violence relationship of two years, moving back into my mothers home, and finding out she has bowel cancer.’

‘I only had my child present in the car that day because I am a full time single parent and have been since I was 16 years old.’

Fodera appeared in Mackay Magistrates Court on Tuesday and was issued a $1200 fine. Magistrate Damien Dwyer also disqualified her from driving for five months.
