A young thug is still on the run from police after punching a man and stealing his gold necklace, phone and Armani watch in a shocking attack in Melbourne.
Five men approached two others on King Street in the Melbourne CBD on New Year’s Eve about 6.30am.

The group also made demands for the two men to hand over their jewellery.
One of the alleged offenders snatched a gold necklace from around the neck of one of the victims and then punched and kicked him in the head.
The same alleged offender then stole an iPhone 7 Plus and an Armani watch from the other victim who was still on the ground.

A Crimestoppers spokeswoman said they were still searching on Wednesday for five men who they believe can help police with their inquiries.
Police released CCTV footage of the attack in the hope a member of the public would recognise the men.
They are believed to be of Pacific Islander or Asian appearance, and aged in their late teens to early 20s.
