One shocking picture taken near South Stack Lighthouse in Holyhead last night shows around five youths ‘playing dare’ to see who could get as close to the edge as possible.

The cliff face, known by climbers as Smurf Zawn, is approximately 650 feet high and is particularly dangerous due to its height and ease to get to.

Dressed in T-shirts, shorts, jeans and trainers the wind was gusting at about 25mph as the young people carried out their deadly activity.

Undeterred by the risks, the youths carried on trying to get as close as they could to see the drop for around 15 minutes.

Terrifyingly,, one of them was seen slipping at one stage while another grabbed hold of one of the group to stop them going over the edge.

A shocked eyewitness said: ‘I’ve been on the climbing sites and seems this cliff face is one of the hardest in the area, and renowned for having loose rock that will just break away.

‘There is also a full restriction until July 1 to go on the cliffs due to it being a nature reserve and birds nesting.

‘They then started to climb down the face, with one of them wearing a white baseball cap acting like he was a mountain goat and jumping down from ledge to ledge with no care for the huge drop at all.

‘As he headed down he was grabbing turfs of grass and throwing them down the cliff face and into the water.
