Youths throw brick through a window narrowly missing baby

A group of youths armed with pickets have targeted residents in an outer Perth suburb after a house party spiralled out of control.

The frightening scene unfolded Saturday night on Mends Way in Waikiki, and saw the gang throw a brick through a window, narrowly missing a baby inside.

A man also had his jaw broken after he tried to confront gatecrashers outside the property and get them to disperse.

Neighbours said the party was shut down shortly before midnight, after more than 60 teenagers spilled out onto the street and began smashing cars, the ABC reports.

Things turned violent when a brick was thrown through the window of a nearby property, almost hitting a baby.

A resident, believed to be the father of the party host, confronted the person who thew the object but was punched and left unconscious.

Suffering from a broken jaw, the injured man was taken to Rockingham hospital in a stable condition.

Other neighbours claimed to have had bottles thrown at them and were struck by bricks, according to The West Australian.

While some of the youths were alleged to have jumped a fence armed with bats, sticks, star pickets and and metal bars.

Mounted police and officers from Perth CBD were called to attend the scene, with an investigation launched but no arrests made.
