YouTuber wears bizarre eight-foot $280 mega-scarf

When it comes to wearing the strangest items the fashion world has to offer, no one is more happy to take on the challenge than YouTube star Safiya Nygaard.

The 24-year-old has previously gone out on the town in such sartorial nightmares as the hairy chest swimsuit and Topshop’s clear plastic jeans, but this time took on something a bit more on the furry side.

In her latest video, Safiya dons a $280 eight-foot tube scarf made by Bulgarian designer label Dukyana that recently took the internet by storm – and gets some seriously surprising reactions.

The new clip starts with Safiya explaining just what she had ordered, deciding that it isn’t quite a scarf nor a sock.

‘I’m just going to keep saying the word sweater and eventually it will become a sweater,’ she says.

‘It looks like the shed skin of an anaconda. Like, it looks like a really large sock puppet has molted.’

Finally, she attempts to wear the bizarre ‘outfit,’ which she also compares to a large intestine, and finds herself struggling to find the other end.

‘I can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel! I see only knit!’ she cries as she pulls fold after fold onto her body.

She is dismayed to learn that the eight-foot tube leaves her engaged in a constant battle to keep the fabric from dragging along the floor, but is surprisingly not concerned about overheating.

‘One of my concerns before I put it on was the temperature, but actually what seemed to be the problem from minute one was the shedding of the wool,’ she says.

Five minutes into wearing the tube, Safiya found herself desperately trying to get a long pale hair out of her eye, while her black clothes worn underneath became covered in sloughed off fluff.

On the plus side, she quickly realizes that she has more use of her hands than she expected as she is able to wiggle her fingers through gaps in the kitting to grab and move things.

She soon decides to take the look out on the town, first starting at Costco, where she discovers that she can blend in with area rugs and camouflage herself as a pillow on a couch.

A bigger surprise, however, is the general public’s reaction to the outfit. Safiya becomes the target of multiple compliments, including from one man who tells her she has a ‘beautiful dress.’

Other customers are so intrigued that they ask her where she bought the outfit and one even exclaims that she ‘needs’ it because she is cold all the time.

Another impressive find of the experiment was the product’s versatility. Safiya claims that she found no less than eight different ways to wear it, which she explained using titles like ‘floppy Liberty Bell,’ ‘wintertime demagorgan’ and ‘groping ghost.’
