Yvette Fielding reveals the ‘terrifying’ reason she quit Most Haunted live on air and how the whole ordeal left her ‘scared to leave the house’

Yvette Fielding quit Most Haunted after a terrifying incident ‘defied all logic’.

The presenter, 55, had hosted the paranormal reality show since 2002 when she was doing a live show in Edinburgh and quit on the spit.

A crew member had fallen foul to a sudden injury without any explanation and when he had to be rushed to hospital, Yvette knew she had had enough.

She told The Sun: ‘The worst one was the sound guy who collapsed onto the floor because he had such a deep cut in the side of his leg, you could see the bone. And he had to go to A&E to get it stitched up.

‘It’s quite embarrassing because I actually resigned live on air because I just can’t understand what’s happened. And I saw it happen with my own eyes and it defied logic.’

The former I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!  contestant was left so shocked by the incident that she couldn’t leave the house.

She admitted that was the first time she considered the possibility that ghosts could ever cause any harm.

She added: ‘I was so frightened, I didn’t sleep for weeks and was too scared to leave the house.’

Her comments come just days after she admitted that she had ‘never’ received an apology from the BBC over the way she was allegedly treated during the early days of her TV careeer.

Yvette was just a teenager when she landed a hosting job on the broadcaster’s flagship children’s programme and previously claimed that her boss Biddy Baxter would tell her she was ‘fat and useless’

But, she insisted that the ‘abuse’ only gave her the impetus to carry on in the world of showbiz.

She said: ‘They have never apologised to me. It doesn’t bother me. I’m not bitter or unhappy about it. It was an experience.’

The TV star quit Blue Peter in 1992 after five years, and a decade later started up her own production company with husband Karl Beattie

Yvette claimed that upon winning the job she had to leave her parents’ house, was flown to Russia for six weeks before being told by producers she had to live with and care for Bonnie.

The television personality said the responsibility of looking after Bonnie, who was a puppy from Blue Peter dog Goldie’s second litter, was terrifying as she was ‘the most famous dog in the country’.

She added: ‘I felt very lonely because I was the youngest. I was considered a kid – and a pain in the a**e of a kid,’ Yvette said on the Celebrity Catch-Up: Life After That Thing I Did podcast.
