Zara Tindall competes in dressage trials in West Yorkshire (and she’s not a bad cyclist either!)

Doing what she does best! Zara Tindall shows off her skills as she competes in dressage trials in West Yorkshire (and she’s not a bad cyclist either!)

Equestrian and horse lover Zara Tindall looked focused as she mounted a horse to compete in dressage trials today.

Princess Anne’s daughter, 42, competed in The Bramham International Horse Trials in West Yorkshire this afternoon.

The mother-of-three was riding her beloved pedigree grey horse, Classicals Euro Star in the first of two rides she is expected to compete in at the trials. She is listed to ride her second horse, Class Affair, tomorrow.

As she rode, Olympic silver-medalist Zara looked elegant yet focused in white jodhpurs, a double-breasted fitted navy blazer with tails and a high-collared shirt.

Following the race, the royal hopped on her bicycle – for which her riding helmet also proved handy.

The royal is a serious international equestrian competitor, having garnered a gold medal at the European Eventing Championships in 2005 in addition to attaining a silver medal at the World Equestrian Games in 2006.

And Zara previously won a silver medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics as part of the Great Britain Eventing Team.

In 2006, she was crowned the BBC’s Sports Personality of the Year.

A keen horse enthusiast, Zara fills much of her leisure time with horses as well, and was pictured at the Epsom Derby just last week with her husband Mike Tindall.

As Animal Rising protesters made a bid to disrupt the race, Zara made a rare intervention as she urged them to stop their activities.

She said: ‘They [the protesters] speak about what they believe in… but do [they] completely understand what [they’re] talking about?’

Meanwhile Mike, 44, implored the activists to ‘go and spend a bit of time at professional yards’ to see how the horses are looked after.

As the couple basked in the sunshine at the races, Zara looked chic as ever in a white midi dress with black stripes, topped with a co-ordinated hat boasting a black and white cockade.

Meanwhile Mike opted for a traditional morning suit, wearing grey trousers under his black tailcoat – and a black and white stripy tie to match his wife’s frock.

The couple appeared to enjoy their day at the Surrey racecourse, and were snapped smiling as they posed together.

And Zara was seen enjoying a glass of wine at one point, as well as watching the action intently.
