Zara Tindall reveals her mother Princess Anne taught her the ‘importance of good clothing’ as she launches £450 raincoat collection

Zara Tindall has hailed her mother for teaching her the importance of ‘good quality clothing’ as she unveiled her very own collection of raincoats.

The 43-year-old, who is often named the most fashionable royal, has worked in collaboration with Musto and Fairfax & Favor to create a collection of jackets, which range in price from £350 to £450.

The collection, named Odyssey, includes ‘very versatile’ styles, including both longline and shorter styles to suit every outdoor activity this autumn and winter.

Zara, the daughter of Princess Anne, said the jackets combine the strongest parts of two of her favourite brands.

She said: ‘Combining Musto’s technical prowess and Fairfax & Favor’s quintessentially British style has resulted in a collection of coats I’m looking forward to wearing this winter.’

The mother-of-three also told The Telegraph that her mother, the Princess Royal, has influenced what she values most when choosing her clothing.

She said: ‘Mum taught me the importance of having good quality clothing that keeps you warm and comfortable outdoors.

‘As a sportswoman who spends most of my time in nature, this is more important than ever to help me stay at my best.’

The jackets created by Zara include the longline Odyssey Waterproof Coat, which comes in dark navy or forest green, and includes a removable hood.

The coat retails for £395, but also comes in a shorter jacket form for £350.

There’s also the padded Pertex Primaloft coat – in both long and short styles – which retails for £450 and £380 respectively.

Zara said of the styles: ‘These jackets are the perfect choice for staying warm and dry, as the colder, wetter weather starts to set in.

‘I have worn Musto for years, and it’s the perfect kit for riding horses, walking the dogs, and being outside, all of which I love.’

It comes after Zara revealed she has an in-house wardrobe adviser to help her pick out accessories for her chic outfits – her husband Mike.

The 43-year-old daughter of the Princess Royal, who is known for her incredible style, admitted her former rugby player husband often weighs in on which shoes or accessories she should go with.

The King’s niece is known for her equestrian achievements and is regularly spotted in her jodhpurs and riding boots, however she can also pull off sophisticated, timeless fashion pieces.

The 73-year-old royal has recycled a number of coats, dresses, hats and handbags over the years – some of which she has owned for decades.

Not only does Anne re-wear pieces dating back to the mid-seventies, but she also dusts off identical outfits, often with the same jewellery and shoes.

When asked about her habit of recycling, she once said: ‘A good suit goes on forever.

‘If it is properly made and has a classic look, you can wear it ad infinitum. The economy was bred into me.’

Zara, who is mother to daughters Mia, 10, and Lena, six, and son Lucas, three, has inherited this down to earth view on clothing.

She advised people to build ‘a wardrobe of quality investment pieces that will stand the test of time but also have the technical finish you need’.

She added: ‘We do timeless, signature style very well – we know how to dress for formal occasions, but also how to dress for the great outdoors.’
