Zayn has not released an album for two years – since his third solo album Nobody Is Listening came out in January 2021.

Before that, his second album Icarus Falls was released in December 2018 while his debut album Mind of Mine came out back in March 2016.

With around a two-year gap between each of his solo albums, fans have been hoping for a 2023 music release from the former X Factor star.

Although he has not released an album in two years, Zayn released a cover of Jimi Hendrix’s hit Angel in November to mark the late guitarist’s birthday.

He also collaborated with Ingrid Michaelson in March 2021 as they duetted on To Begin Again.

After the release of his cover of Angel, Zayn was praised by the Hendrix estate, who approved the cover in a bid to bring the hero’s music to a new generation.

Zayn even used the original music with Jimi’s guitar to accompany his velvety voice on the track, which was his only 2022 release.

Experience Hendrix told Billboard: ‘We are pleased that Zayn has been inspired to use original music from Jimi Hendrix’s Angel in his recording of the song.

‘We’re hopeful that this version of a Hendrix classic will enlighten a new generation of listeners about Jimi’s genius and further propel his continuing legacy.’

Zayn’s new track was released just two days before what would have been Jimi’s 80th birthday on November 27.
