Zoe Buttigieg’s murderer has broken down in never-before-seen footage of his police interview.
Bowe Maddigan can be heard discussing the night he molested and strangled the 11-year-old Melbourne schoolgirl on October 24, 2015.
Maddigan, 31, was sentenced to life in prison when he pleaded guilty in the Victorian Supreme Court in December last year to murder and committing an indecent act with a child under 16.
In footage obtained by Nine News, Maddigan can be heard describing the schoolgirl’s murder ‘like a bad movie’.

‘I couldn’t stop the button, I couldn’t pause the button, I couldn’t rewind the button. I had to sit through a horror movie,’ he said.
‘It makes me feel sick.’
Maddigan goes on to ask the police officers ‘did I hurt the little girl?’ to which they told him ‘you did, she’s dead’.
Zoe’s lifeless body was found in the bedroom of her Wangaratta home, north-east Melbourne about 11am on October 25, 2015.
Her mother Janelle Saunders had four friends at her home for a party the night before, including Maddigan, who was released from prison just 19 days earlier.
‘I couldn’t stop the button, I couldn’t pause the button, I couldn’t rewind the button. I had to sit through a horror movie,’ he said.

In the footage, the officers showed Maddigan photos of the murdered 11-year-old, and asked him if he recalled what happened.
‘This is your chance right now to tell your side of what went on, because you’re going to look like some sort of monster,’ the officer said.
‘Did she struggle while you had your hand around her neck and over her mouth?’
Maddigan attempted to avoid the line of questioning, answering only ‘no comment’ or ‘I don’t remember’, until he broke down in tears.
