Zoe Marshall reveals horrific details of abusive relationship

Zoe Marshall has detailed a past relationship in which she suffered domestic abuse. 

The NRL WAG, 37, told The Daily Telegraph she feared that she would be killed if she didn’t leave.   

‘When I was at rock bottom, I had almost died in a car accident after leaving my ex’s house, and I was sitting in a hospital bed in a brace and he was mocking me about having nobody at my bedside apart from him,’ she said on Monday. 

‘I remember that being this turning point of – “He’s gonna kill you. You’re going to kill him”.

‘Death was probably better… we got so close to him killing me.’

Her former partner warned her that she would be alone if she left, but Zoe is glad she did. 

‘He said I would be nothing without him. But I am everything because I’m not with him,’ she said.

Zoe has gone on to have a much happier relationship – she has been married to NRL star Benji Marshall since 2013. 

She surprised her fans recently when she revealed she and Benji sleep separately in different bedrooms. 

‘I sleep in a king bed and away from my husband. We have separate rooms. We’ve been sleeping separately for about 10 years,’ she told News.com.au.

‘It’s actually heaven… People who are sleeping and are unconscious don’t know how disruptive their spouses’ noises and moving has on their sleep.’  

She continued: ‘It’s not doing you any favours, and it can build a lot of resentment. So, we sleep separately, and I love it. Expensive on holidays though.’  

Zoe and Benji are parents to 11-month-old daughter Ever and son Benjamin Fox, four.

The proud parents announced the arrival of their baby girl in June last year.

Benji announced his retirement from rugby league in October 2021 after playing for the South Sydney Rabbitohs.
