- Selfie fail: Zookeeper’s efforts to capture the perfect photo opportunity rejected
- The subjects, a pair of pandas, prove too busy feasting to hold still for the snap
- Though the man tries to grab a bite, the pandas quickly reject his advances
A zookeeper in Asia has suffered the ultimate slight after being rejected for a selfie by a pair of pandas.
The man, whose identity and location is unknown, tried to take advantage of a prime photo opportunity with one of the world’s rarest animals when his advances were turned down by the creatures, who instead preferred to gobble on their snacks.
A video captures the moment the man lay down with the animals in their enclosure and used a selfie stick in a bid to get the priceless snap.
Despite his determination, the pandas, lying comfortably on their backs, remained steadfastly committed to their own agendas: chowing down on their snacks.
The man even attempted to hold the animals still and take a bite of their food, but to little avail, as the pair continued to wriggle and nibble away.
It is not clear whether the man ever captured his dream photo.
A zookeeper in Asia attempted to get the ultimate selfie with a pair of pandas – but his subjects were less than forthcoming
Smile for the camera: the pair of hungry pandas proved more focused on their food than the lens
Hold steady: The zookeeper, who has not been identified, even bravely attempted to get between the animals and their food to capture the shot
Though the man tried to hold the animals steady, they continued to squirm and eat their snacks
The man’s efforts to pose with the pandas, though foolhardy, may have been warranted: Pandas are thought to be among the world’s most endangered species.
Recent estimates suggest there are approximately 1,500 pandas living in the wild worldwide, with up to a further 300 living in captivity.
