Marsh was called up to the starting XI for the Boxing Day test match against India but failed to impress, scoring just nine and 10 runs, and was not called up for the final test.

Langer said he will monitor Marsh’s condition over the coming days before making a decision on whether he will play the follow up ODIs in Adelaide on January 15 and Melbourne on January 18.

He said Turner’s call up to the one day side was due to his ability to put pressure on the opposing team by running between wickets.

‘That might sound like the dumbest thing you’ve ever heard but you watch Ashton Turner, the way he runs between wickets is unbelievable.’

‘You see the way he finishes off an innings that he’s a good thinker of the game like most of the great finishes and a really good leader, good person around the group. Very excited to see him come in.’
